Artist XXVII builds on the third work in his new exhibition with the deity “Path (Passage 09)” it’s work that is both provocative and shines a light on the missing gods of the original African American experience. Path allows us to see the many different journeys available for us to take in lives path. The figure has many facets and utilizes a variety of techniques of execution. The larger size of the work stands out and allows you to get into the details. Utilizing patterns and motifs from the past to illustrate directions and possibilities it captures the realities that your own journey has many intersections and possibilities and is never ending. XXVII decided to be additive with afro-futurism constructs when realizing this painting. Through the introduction of “There Are Only 14 Gods” we add another figure of something lost from early American and people of African descent.
XXVII seeks to celebrate this lost history.
